The big cat's scarcity in the wild hasn't seemed to stop the voracious demand for tiger-based products.

If you plan on going to Laos, don't expect to see a tiger. That is, unless you head to one of their tiger farms where many big cats pace back and forth in their cages, awaiting their death. Here in the small Southeast Asian country, the wild animal trade is booming and high paying tourists can stop by get a taste of tiger wine — an alcoholic beverage brewed with tiger bones — or even try sautéed tiger meat.

According to experts there are only two wild tigers left in the entire country.

Yet the big cats' scarcity in the wild hasn't seemed to stop the voracious demand for tiger-based products. Exotic farms in Laos are a huge issue, and while some argue that using tiger meat raised in captivity will help protect the animals' relatives in the wild, studies show this is not the case. Firstly, many of the "farm raised" tigers were actually caught in the wild and then sold to exotic animal farms.

Secondly, allowing any source of tiger product confuses conservation efforts and often increases demand.

Last year, Laos admitted they had a serious issue with exotic animal farms and promised to take steps to shut them down. Yet, since then, nothing has changed, and everyday tigers and other endangered animals are being caught in the wild and slaughtered to feed a sick exotic meats and medicine industry.

With your help we can send a message to the Nation of Laos and tell them the rest of the world is watching. Sign this petition and tell President Bounnhang Vorachith it's time to end the slaughter. Tell them to shut down the tiger farms now!

Thank you for making a difference,
